1. Superior User Interface
The appearance of the iOS interface is sleek and modern. The vibrant colors and glossy graphics make the menus of the iPhone and iPad pretty to look at and fun to use. The interface of the Android OS is less clean-cut than iOS because requires the use of multiple buttons: home, back, search, and settings. Devices running iOS possess only one simple home button.

Apple iOS 5 was announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference in early June 2011. When released, it will be supported on the iPad, iPod, iPhone 3GS, 4 and 5. After watching the official video posted on YouTube and gathering all the information I could, I have decided to publish this article explaining the enhancements of iOS 5 as of when it becomes available to the public.
iCloud - iCloud syncs all music, pictures, videos, applications, iBooks, contacts, email, calendars, bookmark, to-do list and notes via a wireless network. It makes your device virtual and removes the constraint of having data physically stored on a hard drive.
Notification Center - The notification system for iOS 4 has proven to be very frustrating for many users. The big blue box that pops up with a single notification message tends to gets in the way. This has been completely redesigned for iOS 5. All notifications are put into groups which can be accessed by a simple swipe down from the status bar. The classic notification box has been intelligently replaced by a small subtle message at the top of the screen. With the improved lock screen a voicemail, text message or any other notification can be actioned with just one swipe.
Safari - Safari has been improved with the introduction of tabbed based browsing. A new feature called reader allows users to focus in on the primary content of an article without having to sift through all the clutter around. This is excellent for extracting content on a busy web page. Reading lists is a tool which will compliment the bookmark facility and lists text articles of interest selected by the user. Once added to the reading list it can be viewed across devices using iCloud.
iMessage - iMessage completely revolutionizes the way users send messages to each other. One major improvement is the ability to send unlimited SMS text messages over a WiFi network. Just like on Blackberry Messenger, iMessage will show when a person is typing a new message. Text messages are grouped into conversations. Files such as pictures, videos, contacts and even your location are shared directly through iMessage. Using the iCloud auto sync technology you can start a message on one device and complete it on another.
Newsstand - Don't get Newsstand mixed up with iBooks. Get your favourite newspapers and magazines delivered straight to your device. Users will get an alert notification when updated new editions are released or alternatively, it can be set to automatically update. It makes buying the paper copy of a newspapers or magazine a thing of the past. Newsstand items can be purchased directly from newsstand or from the Appstore.
Camera & photos - Camera for iOS 5 will now also be accessible from the lockscreen directly. This is a great way to take pictures quickly, on the move. Autofocus, enhancements and red-eye removal are some key features included. To take a picture in this mode, simply press the volume up button.
Twitter - Just like Facebook for iOS 4, Twitter has been fully integrated into iOS 5 with the option to tweet from your camera, YouTube, safari and even maps.
Reminders- With iOS 5 both time and location-based reminders are possible. Say you get out of bed and need to remind yourself to ask your boss of a pay rise, you simple add this into the to-do-list for your calendar day and when your device detects that you are walking into your office building you will be sent a reminder. Your to-do list is easily and clearly laid out so you can tick and cross off as you go.
No More PC - One of the beauties of iOS 5 is the fact you no longer need to own a PC or Mac. As long as you have access to a wireless network iOS 5 will setup straight out of the box. So no PC, no USB cable and no iTunes needed.
A word of warning to all Apple enthusiasts out there. Apple has released a beta version of iOS 5 which is available for download on the internet. This was released so that developers can search out all the bugs and glitches. It is not meant for public use and should not be treated as such. As with most beta software it requires constant updating and once your device has been upgraded to iOS 5 beta it is extremely difficult to restore back to iOS 4. So if you are not a developer I strongly suggest you sit tight and wait until Apple releases a public version of iOS 5.

Steve Jobs experienced 56 years of colourful live that saw him rise, fall and rise again. A man that never looked back and blessed with a great mind, he was a truly special man that cannot be replaced by anyone else. Here, you will see what he has brought to the world during his lifetime.
1970 - 1976: Steve Jobs started high school and continue his study at Reed College. He met Steve Wozniak at high school, which would later become his partner in Apple Inc. (Apple Computers at that time). He built his first computer, Apple I in his own bedroom.
1977 - 1982: He releases Apple II that comes with colour graphics in 1977 and later developed Lisa, a desktop computer aimed for business customers. The following computer, Apple III is also aimed for the same market. Steve Jobs' first cover appearance is in 1982 where he was featured on the cover of Time Magazine in the February issue.
1983 - 1989: He launched Macintosh in 1984 and despite its sale success; he was out from Apple on 1985. This is his downfall but because of his great will, he later founded NeXT that specialised in developing hardware and software. At the same year, he bought the computer division in LucasFilm and renamed it Pixar. His first real failure comes at 1989 where the NeXTcube fails tremendously in the market place.
1990 - 1998: Despite the great failure, he managed to bounce back and make NeXT and Pixar a great and world-known companies. Later in the year 1996, he returned to Apple after NeXT was bought by the company and he became Apple's interim CEO and chairman in 1997. He unleashed iMac, a desktop that was a big hit in the market in 1998.
1999 - 2004: He then released iBook in 1999 which also became a massive hit like its counterpart, the iMac. He then became Apple's permanent CEO in 2000 and launched the first iPod in 2001. iTunes Music Store started operation in 2003 to support the iPod and it hits 25 million downloads in that year alone. 2004 is the year when Steve Jobs was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
2005 - 2011: Despite his health condition, he steeled himself and continue his work at Apple. In 2005, Apple released iPod Nano and iTunes reached a milestone of 500 million downloads, a massive 2000% increase compared to its first year of operation. In 2006, MacBook Pro was released and the following year, the first iPhone was released. Starting from that year, Apple then released a new version of iPhone every year and iPad joins the same modus operandi in 2010.
5th October 2011 is the black day where Steve Jobs left the world because of pancreatic cancer complication.

3 Lessons Learned From a Brilliant Executive: Steve Jobs

I recently heard about a book called "The Geeks Shall Inherit the Earth". The premise is that the Geeks, the Nerds, and the folks that were not very popular in High School have often become very wealthy. You can think of numerous examples: Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, the Google guys - Larry Page and Sergey Brin. These brilliant minds are behind numerous tech related, web-based, social networks, programs and software that have really changed our lives. Generally, those that are the most successful in life are like most of us. They have played by the rules, done the right thing, and had a few wild ideas or occasional experiences along the way.
While the Geeks rule the world now, what happened to those that were popular in school? The author gives examples showing that they are often not the most competent or successful later on in life. Unfortunately, the examples she cited showed that they would compromise their values and go along with the crowd. Some research has shown that less than 17% of those who were Valedictorians are successful later in life! They may be very bright academically but struggle when it comes to managing relationships and communicating effectively.
With the recent death of Steve Jobs, it caused me to think about what is really important and who has influence in the world. There is no question that Steve Jobs not only influenced and changed America, but he literally changed the entire world. Whether or not you were a fan of Steve Jobs and Apple products, you have to admit that his brain, his gift, his expertise, and his way of seeing the world, were pretty much without equal. He has been one of the most influential persons of our day.
As I think about his life and how it relates to Executive Brilliance and shining in your own life at home and in the workplace, there are several lessons that we can learn from his life:
There Was No Box!
We are bombarded with the expression that we need to 'think outside the box'. As far as I can tell Steve Jobs didn't have a box! Since his death there are many that have read or heard his speech at Stanford. In that he talked about connecting the dots and the things in his personal life that helped him do that.
In his speech he reflected on events that were transformative in his life. Apple had its origin in a class that he took at a community college. He had dropped out of Reed College and enrolled in a Calligraphy class. When he was taking that class and working with the various fonts, he envisioned the difference this could make in the world of computers. He knew people could grasp more easily what was presented on the screen if the concepts, the words, and the layout of things were more in pictures and design rather than just plain old text. We all know the rest of the story.
This was just one example of how Steve Jobs was never confined by a box and didn't think the way so many people think. He used normal learning experiences to come up with profound thoughts that gave us incredible results.
Fail Forward Fast
Another thing Steve Jobs was known for was his ability to fail forward fast. Many of his failures were well-known: he dropped out of college, he split with Bill Gates, he was fired from Apple. But, he always seemed to land on his feet. One of the trademarks of Brilliant Executives is that they fail forward. Winston Churchill said, "The sad thing about experience is that it can be wasted on a person." Failures were lessons for Steve Jobs. He used them, he learned from them, and as a result changed the world.
Integrate the Right and Left-Brain
He was, of course, a genius in the technical world. An environment dominated by left-brain thinkers. But, he combined his left-brain thinking ability with very right-brain approaches. Going back to the Stanford speech, he talked about listening to your heart and intuition and how they will never fail you. This is another unique and outstanding characteristic of Steve Jobs and other Brilliant Executives who make a difference in the world. They know how to integrate the left-brain, practical, and linear though processes with the right-brain, creative, fluid, circular, spiritual aspects. They can blend the tangible with the intangible and create something phenomenal.
I am basking in admiring and appreciating what Steve Jobs has given to the world. It has given me pause to reflect in my own life and hopefully it has for you as well. We might not be a 'Steve Jobs' but we can, in our own small piece of the earth, make a difference where we are and with what we have. So I invite you to create your own box, to fail forward, and integrate the left and right sides of your brain!

5 Things I Learned From Steve Jobs

Well Steve Jobs left behind life lessons in his 56 years of existence and here are five lessons I learned from Steve Jobs
1) Live each day as if it were your last They say to truly know how to live, you have to understand death. Steve Jobs knew this best when he shared in his Stanford address
"Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything - all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure - these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart."
This quote says it best in living your life to its fullest. Remember to live each day as if it were your last. This also puts things in perspective and allows you to pursue your passion without inhibitions.
Perhaps his last line sums up the best way to live one's life, that is to follow your passion and your heart.
There is no point living a life if one not able to do things which one desires.
Hence there are now many people looking for alternative sources of income besides a job now in the hope of being able to create an extra source of income to fund their passions. The most common way is to start a home based business or an online venture.
2) Find Your Passion
Steve was good at what he did because he was passionate about it. He lived and breathed Apple. His passion was what made Apple a world-class company.
Steve created iPods, iPads and iPhones. Now even kids own iPods. The latest launch of the iPhone 4S created a huge buzz with fans queuing between 3 days to 2 weeks waiting to be among the first few to buy the iPhone 4S.He managed to create all these phenomenal products which people desired and wanted so badly by living his own dream instead of someone else's.
3) Be Different
Any user of Apple products knew that it was different from what the rest of the other 'me-to' or 'know me off' could do. If you have ever used any Apple products, you knew that they were different. Apple products were a marriage of design and technology. Steve knew how to stand out from the market by being different. He had the guts to ignore the naysayers to do what he felt was right.
His push to be different was what made Apple a memorable company in the minds of everyone today.
I believe as entrepreneurs one needs to learn from the boldness of vision of Steve Jobs.
4) Focus
Steve knew how to focus. He did not brainstorm 100 ideas and focus on everything at once. He picked one idea from the many brilliant ideas he received and ran with it with relentless focus. For if he had developed 100 ideas at the same time, we might not have such memorable products as the iPad which forever changed the way people used the computers to search and store information. It also changed the way we interact with others online through the use of various downloadable apps.
5) Perseverance
Steve believed that what separates the best from the wannabes is perseverance. He persevered in spite of difficulties. Despite being kicked out of the very company he founded, he went on to pursue his own vision, eventually founding the company Pixar which he sold to Disney for about 7 billion. Later he was invited back to Apple; it was a company in shambles. He persevered in spite of all these difficulties and went on to build a world-class company that continues to live on.
What we can take away from Steve's life is to stop wasting time living someone else's dream. Go out, make a difference and change the world with your vision.Persevere in your belief and do whatever it takes to make your dreams a reality.

Since his death on October 5, 2011, the media has been just who is Steve Jobs? The accolades and praise for this man came from everyone from President Obama, to competitor Bill Gates and other people from the world of government, technology and business. To hear these people talk this man was nothing short of a super hero technological giant.
The truth is that like each and every one of us, Steve Jobs was many things to many people. A caring and considerate son to his adoptive parents, a close brother to his biological sister Mona Simpson, a loving husband and father to his wife Laurene and children Erin, Eve, Reed, and Lisa, a Demanding Employer, a trusted adviser, friend, and competitor to others in the computer industry, and a savvy business man who had the ability to think outside the box. I ask you to still question who Steve Jobs is and the type of mark for generations to come.
To millions of Americans and other people around the world he was simply another billionaire whose life had little to do with their own. In this thinking, they couldn't have been more wrong. This man and his innovative thinking and tireless dedication managed to touch the lives of almost every man, woman, and child around the world.
By now, most people have at least heard some version of the story how in the 1970s Jobs dropped out of college and with his friend Steve Wozniack and some others began building and selling personal computers from his garage and how these computers were some of the first successful personal computers to hit the market and how those computers began the foundation of The Apple computer company. This led to the beginning of the computer revolution that would sweep the world and make Jobs a millionaire before he reached the age of 30.
He left the company in 1985 only to return in 1996 and become the CEO and the face of Apple as well as the driving force behind the I series of technological equipment such as the Ipad and the IPhone. Taking over the field and becoming light years ahead of its competitors in the tablet computer niche.
For Jobs, work did not end with computers he was also CEO of Pixar the company that produced Toy Story and when Walt Disney world purchased the Pixar company he became the largest shareholder of Disney stock.
Diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in 2003, Jobs continued his tireless work with Apple pushing for more and more innovation. He took a 6 months leave from the company from January to June of 2009 to deal with health issues but, returned to the helm of the company that he loved and had poured his sweat into for most of his adult life where he continued as CEO until just weeks before his death, stepping down as head of the company, but remaining on the board of directors.
In the months to come, when people read the biography of this man they will discover that he was just an ordinary man who was perhaps a bit of a dreamer and had the determination to make his dreams come true and encouraged others to make theirs come true as well. He was in many ways living proof that the American dream still lives and that through hard work, dedication, and pure stubbornness you can achieve that which seems impossible.

Why do we admire Steve Jobs? I believe that Steve Jobs must be one of the most invaluable and priceless name in the world. It is not only because that he was the CEO of the Apple, of course there are several other reasons for his popularity. This article will share the reasons of Steve's secrets of success, that's also why he is admired and respected by most people.
1. Except for the sales of the worldwide-known computers, product designing and marketing planning are also included in the business categories of the Apple. Steve had some designing lessons about cars. He learned the designing points of comfort, materials and colors so that the products can attract the customers' attention.
2. In fact, Steve is a completist, who is cautious to deal with every step of one task. He is not afraid of making mistakes, instead, he just wants to complete every task with a perfect consequence.

Steve Jobs the Ultimate Intrapreneur and Entrepreneur

Steve Jobs, Apple's Chairman, was specifically helpful in popularizing the term "intrapreneurship." In a September 30, 1985 "Newsweek" article Jobs said, "The Macintosh team was what is commonly known as intrapreneurship... a group of people going, in essence, back to the garage, but in a large company."
Earlier that year, the February 4, 1985 TIME Magazine's article, "Here come the Intrapreneurs" discussed the intrapreneurial spirit. The article included the creation of Apple, Saturn within General Motors, as well as intrapreneurship ventures within AT&T, Data General, DuPont, and Texas Instruments.
As a side note, Apple Computer itself was potentially an intrapreneurial venture as it was an outgrowth of two big corporation employees. Steve Jobs had worked at Atari and Steve Wozniak ("Woz") worked at Hewlett Packard part time. Because of his employment agreement with HP Wozniak actually had presented his prototype "personal computer" to an HP executive. Fortunately for "Woz" and Jobs the HP Executive unilaterally rejected the idea with a comment to the effect of "what would ordinary people do with a computer?" On hearing the good news of the HP rejection Jobs is reported to have said, "We're on our way!"
Later, in the early 1980's Steve Jobs and his handpicked group of twenty Apple Computer engineers separated themselves from the other Apple employees to innovatively and intrapreneurially create the new Apple Macintosh Computer (the "MAC"). This intrapreneurial group verged on becoming a "cult" within Apple Computer.
The MAC group, under Steve Jobs' personal leadership, operated totally independently and without interference from anyone at Apple. Some who were familiar with the situation commented that Jobs and his Band of Engineers were allowed to play "without adult supervision" (hint: CEO Scully and the Apple Board). This separate Apple intrapreneurship venture would ultimately compete with Apple's mainstay products. This competition was part of what ultimately led Apple's CEO John Scully to become displeasured with Jobs. Seasoned Venture Capitalist Arthur Rock and John Scully later led the Board fight to fire Steve Jobs (which former Apple CEO John Scully later admitted was mistake on his part).
Intrapreneurship, sometime called Corporate Entrepreneurship, comes from the idea of using entrepreneurial ideas, innovation, and start-up business techniques within a large (or medium sized) organization.
To be a successful intrapreneur takes much more than just creativity or an idea. The successful intrapreneur has to be willing to take real risks at sharing and pushing a unique idea. An intrapreneur has to be willing to go into work focused on a mission and be willing to be fired at any moment in defense of their intrapreneurial objective. Steve Jobs clearly demonstrated that virtue.
Intrapreneurship has been called the "secret weapon for success". It has been used in high tech firms such as 3M, Anaconda-Ericsson, Apple Computer, AT&T, Corona Data Systems, Data General, DuPont, GE, Genentech, Lockheed, Prime Computer, Sony, Texas Instruments Toyota, and other successful firms!
The term "Intrapreneurship" has become part of the business lexicon for the last thirty years. The TIME and Newsweek articles were both published in 1985. But three years earlier, the University published intrapreneur Haller's formal academic case study and Master's Thesis documented the term "intrapreneurship." He researched and wrote about the rapidly growing Super Mini Computer firm, PR1ME Computer Inc. (1977 to 1980). His research and case study was later published as a book on the topic of intrapreneurship success in the high tech world. The "Intrapreneuring" term was popularized by management consultant Gifford Pinchot III in his book "Intrapreneuring" which was published in 1985.
Over the last three decades both large and small growing companies have experimented with allowing intrapreneurial activity within their organizations. Several successful intrapreneurial ventures come to mind including: Apple's "Macintosh," PR1ME Computer's "PR1ME Leasing," 3M's "Post-It Notes," Sony's "PlayStation," and the W L Gore's "Elixir Guitar Sting Line."
